Social Action Food Pantry

Dear Parishioners,​As you may know, each and every month we provide food for
nearly 40 families who are in need. We are very grateful to all of you who, week
after week, donate food items to the Social Action Food Pantry. After taking
stock of what we currently have there is a great need for several items.

Radio City Christmas Show

All are invited to join us on a Parish Bus Trip to NYC to see the Radio City
Christmas Show.​Saturday, November 25, 2017​The bus will leave the church
parking lot at 9:00 am and return approximately at 8:15 pm. There will be free
time in NYC before the show. The Christmas Show begins at 4:00 pm. The bus will
depart right after the show.​The cost is $140.00 per person which includes a
coach bus, driver tip, snacks on the bus, and a ticket to the Christmas Show
(orchestra seats). ​Space is limited. If you are interested in joining us,
please call the rectory at (203) 265-1694.

September Newsletter​We hope everyone had a very relaxing and enjoyable
summer. Best of luck to all students who have returned to school. FAITH
FORMATION CLASSESFaith Formation classes are beginning this week. Returning
students should have received information in the mail. New students to our
program should call the Faith Formation office at 203-269-4683 to register.
MUSIC MINISTRYOur choir will begin its season on Thursday, September 21st from
7:00 – 8:30. New members are most welcome. The choir rehearses weekly on
Thursday evenings and provides music at the 10:30 Mass on Sundays from October –
May. No experience is necessary. Invite a friend or bring a family member with
you and try it out. If you realize it is not for you, there is no obligation to

holding a training session for new Altar Servers. If your child is interested,

should be in at least 3rd grade and have received First Communion.We lost
several of our servers because they went off to college. It’s our hope to
welcome many new servers to our team.​CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD Beginning
the first Sunday of October, we will resume the Children’s Liturgy of the Word
during the 9:00 Mass on Sundays. At the beginning of the Mass, children will be
invited to go downstairs and listen to the Scriptures proclaimed in an
age-appropriate manner. While downstairs, they will participate in an activity
and will learn music. The children will return to the church during the
Offertory and will sing the songs they have learned. All are invited.BUS TRIP TO

see the famous RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SHOW in New York on Saturday, November 25th.

Bus Trip – NY Botanical Garden

NEW YORK BUS TRIP​The Church of the Resurrection is sponsoring a Capital
Campaign fundraiser on August 24th. The event is a day trip to the New York
Botanical Garden to see the world renowned Chihuly Nights Exhibit. There will
also be time to have lunch and shop on the famed Arthur Ave.​The cost of the
trip is $90.00. Space is limited.​The bus will leave the church parking lot at
1:00pm and proceed to Arthur Ave where you can leisurely shop at a variety of
bakeries and markets.​The bus will then proceed to NYBG to take a guided tour
of the Chihuly event.The exhibition is infused with a magical energy as the
artworks are spectacularly illuminated amid NYBG’s sweeping vistas and
magnificent conservatory. After sunset, experience the heightened drama and
quality of Chihuly’s colors when lit under the evening sky. There will be a
rotating lineup of performing artists and musicians providing entertainment.
Food and cocktails will be available for purchase. The bus will leave for home
at 9:00pm.Come and have a fun day, and bring a friend!Call the rectory at

Faith Formation Schedule 2017-2018

FAITH FORMATION CLASSES 2017-2018​Dear Parents,​After an overwhelmingly
positive response to my previous email, we have decided to offer Religious
Education classes at the church/rectory during the week, with a few Saturday
options. Below is a tentative schedule. A more detailed schedule will be
available, either for pick-up after Mass or by mail, in the next few weeks.
​Grade 1: Mondays 4:30 – 5:30 or Saturday 9:30 – 10:30Grade 2: Mondays 4:30 –
5:30Grade 3: Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:30Grade 4 Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:30 or Saturday 9:30
– 10:30Grade 5 Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:00Grade 6 Mondays 6:00 – 7:00Grade 7 Tuesdays
6:00 – 7:00Grade 8 Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:00Confirmation classes grade 9 –
Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:00In addition this year, an alternate “Home-School” option
will be available for those who are unable to attend class due to scheduling
conflicts. Please contact our Faith Formation office for more information. Thank
